While you CAN walk to the kicking horse lift, it’s easier to just drive to the base camp and start there. The only thing I didn’t realize was that there’s no garage for this unit - not a problem for us as the weather was great. The host was very quick and helpful in responding to my questions. What really makes this place though is its location. It is a 5 minute walk to the kicking horse lift AND you get a clear unobstructed view of the mountains. I do not think there is a "Ski-in, Ski-out" property at Granby that offers both quick access to the slopes and an unobstructed view. I will take the short walk to the slopes in exchange for an amazing view any day. Hoping we can book this property again yet this year. The house was great and there were plenty of things to do to keep us busy and entertained. Base Camp at Granby Ranch is nice. We did the ski lift to the top of the mountain and hiked down. The west entrance to RMNP is less than an hour drive. We enjoyed exploring Granby, Winter Park, and Grand Lake which are all close to property. Best of all, we had great views from the property. We left several as well. I didnt know they had a cleaning company so I did all the dishes and linens, rugs, etc anything and everything that could be cleaned we did it. The hot tub worked perfect, all the showers had great pressure and hot hot water. Great pots/pans/Pyrex and utensils. The only thing I could not find were mixing bowls so I used the large pot to mix ingredients then washed it out to then cook with. The Wi-Fi did not lag & i I had a 17, 2-15 yr olds & a 14 - NOT ONE COMPLIANT! Its that kind of place when you walk your OCD or ADD parenting worries can not even begin to flare up. We lived having the extra space as my in laws joined us so having two living rooms was fantastic with the kids! It s a little far from the slopes but we knew that when we booked it so if you are looking for ski in ski out this is not your place but if you want something with breathtaking views and a slower pace book now!!! We didn t mind the effort to get to the lodge as we never left the ski lodge until going home for the night and let me tell ya it was a full 9-7 (with night skiing) kinda packed day! The property has great views, is well stocked and is very comfortable. Hot tub was perfect at the end of a day of exploring the area! Being that this is a 3 bedroom/3 bathroom, there was plenty of room for us... and would be perfect for a family or a group of friends (or both!).
